Support the Lasallian Mission in Singapore
Affiliated Members of the Institute are lay women and men whose lives and service reflect a deep identification with the Lasallian mission. Recognised by the De La Salle Brothers, they share in the spirit, values, and educational commitment of the Institute through sustained partnership and witness. In Singapore, these individuals have contributed significantly to Lasallian schools and ministries, embodying a shared vocation to educate young people, serve the community, and advance the mission entrusted to St John Baptist de La Salle.
Augustine Thomas Goh Sin Tub, an SJI old boy (Class of 1950), is recognised as an Affiliated Member of the Institute for his steadfast support of the Brothers’ mission and his leadership within the wider Lasallian community. Remembered as a pioneer of Singapore literature and a man of wide public service, he served as Chairman of the Christian Brothers School (CBS) Board of Management and later as the first Chair of the SJI Board of Governors, helping to sustain the school’s Catholic and Lasallian identity across generations.
Dominic Yip is honoured as an Affiliated Member of the Institute for his faithful partnership with the De La Salle Brothers and his leadership in Lasallian schooling. He taught for many years at St Joseph’s Institution and as Principal of St Michael’s School (now St Joseph’s Institution Junior), he took office in 1988 and guided the major work of rebuilding the school, including fundraising and development. His legacy is marked by quiet conviction and devotion to Lasallian ideals.
Francis Loh Siew Khan was a respected Lasallian educator who joined St Joseph’s Institution (SJI) in 1955 and served in various educational leadership roles — teacher, senior assistant, and Vice Principal — before retiring in 2003 after nearly five decades of service. He was known for his firm but caring approach and for mentoring generations of students and student leaders. In recognition of his dedicated service, he received the Loyal Lasallian Service Award in 1999, the Lasallian Distinguished Service Award in 2002, and was honoured by the Brothers as a Benefactor and Affiliated Member of the Institute upon his retirement.
Joseph Ee Peng Liang, an SJI old boy, is recognised as an Affiliated Member of the Institute for a life that embodied service, generosity, and social responsibility. Widely known for founding and leading Singapore’s Council of Social Service and the Community Chest, he exemplified a practical love of neighbour that resonates deeply with the Lasallian concern for the vulnerable. His witness remains a powerful example for the Lasallian family.
Lawrence da Silva is remembered as an Affiliated Member of the Institute for his decisive leadership in strengthening Lasallian education in Singapore. He played a pivotal role in the growth of the Lasallian family, serving as Chair of the Christian Brothers School (CBS) Board of Management and as the first Chair of the Lasallian Educational Mission Council of Singapore. His leadership was also closely associated with the early chapter of SJI International, where he addressed the inaugural assembly in 2007. The wider Institute recognised his contributions with a posthumous Letter of Affiliation, reflecting his fraternal bond with the Brothers.
Lucas Lak Pati Singh is recognised as an Affiliated Member of the Institute for his dedicated service to Lasallian education in Singapore. He served as Principal of St Patrick’s School from 2002–2011, leading a period of renewed focus on standards and student formation. His stewardship reflects a deep commitment to the Lasallian mission of educating the whole person—mind, heart, and character.
